The story behind the revival
By Adwest Steering
The steering box is one of the most safety-critical components on any vehicle. So when the supply of genuine Adwest units dried up, owners were left with a difficult choice: track down an ageing original, or gamble on an unverified copy with no known pedigree.
We didn't think that was good enough. The Adwest name carried a century of British engineering behind it, and a reputation earned across more than a million Defenders. Bringing it back properly — with the right licensing, the right tooling and the right standards — felt like the only thing worth doing.
What "genuine" means to us
Genuine isn't a marketing word. For us it means three things:
- Traceable parts — every component accounted for, no anonymous cores.
- Controlled processes — built to original specification, the way the factory intended.
- Evidence-backed testing — measured, tested and recorded, so the proof travels with the box.
That's the standard we hold ourselves to, and it's why we describe the result simply: as if the factory never shut.
